In Entre Morros, clarity is in the whole, as well as in the details of the images, capturing the strength of an urban web. It simultaneously shows the Rio de Janeiro hillside communities from near and far, inside and outside, from above and from the slope. The Rio in these photographs does not exist in a natural state. It is a construction, built from its urban contrasts. Nature and city, wealth and poverty, violence and humanity.
The texts by Maurício Lissovsky, Sérgio Burgi, and Antônio Gonçalves Filho contextualize the author’s work in the history of landscape photography, and highlight the most important aspects of the work within contemporary photographic production.
