Dream and reality overlap to compose a visual piece that suggests new possibilities for appreciating Rio de Janeiro and its Carnival. In O corpo da cidade, Claudia Jaguaribe follows an opposite path to conventional photographic essays, seeking the essence within the excess. The photographer deconstructs her work, manipulating colors and images in search of saturation, like a painter experimenting with the infinite mobility of forms.
By chronicling the Rio carnival, the artist seeks out the concrete nature of the object within its atmosphere and proposes, within the images, the fusion of the city with the bodies of those who inhabit it.
